SUSTAINABILITY

In recent decades, FILMQUARTIER has transformed concrete landscapes into vibrant green urban oases, fostering diverse ecosystems that now thrive with an array of plants and wildlife

We All Live in a Green Submarine 🎶

In recent years, we have transformed approximately 500 m² of asphalt ground in the courtyard of FILMQUARTIER Vienna into lush vegetation. Quite literally sprung from the ground. Hundreds of cubic meters of asphalt, concrete, and soil were excavated and replaced with organic soil from the Stopfenreuther Au, then planted.

With abundant grassy areas, numerous herb patches, cherry and apple trees, palms, and fig trees, our space has become a haven for countless butterflies and bees. Our palms and the diverse array of herbs are a delight to the eyes and contribute to clean air, with the added bonus of early morning birdsong.

Small Animal Farm in the City?

All plants thrive exceptionally well in the courtyard. The ivy on the facades contributes to air purification, while the central grassy area balances the microclimate for everyone.

The countryside scent at the main gate, that moment of olfactory perception of rural life, is created by our two mountain goats, Susi and Leo, our three mini pigs as well as our two small sheep on the lawn. They all provide organic fertilizer for our plants and flowers. And in summer, it sometimes smells like an idyllic farm – right in the middle of the city. Our colony of kestrels is flourishing with there are 3-5 offspring annually.

All seminar locations have been exclusively constructed or renovated with natural building materials, thus being free of pollutants.
